The Ultimate Holiday Playlist - Inspired To Style

The Ultimate Holiday Playlist

by

I don’t know about you, but I feel like there is a heaviness in the world that is making it really hard for me to embrace my usual Christmas cheer.

Just turn on the news or scan your social media feed, and you are sure to find something that leaves you feeling unsettled and anxious.

Those feelings plus the added pressure of a heavy work load, tons of kids’ activities and all of the other stuff that needs to get done on a daily basis ALMOST had me wanting to just write Christmas off this year.

No big to-do about decorating the house. No big plans for holiday gatherings, etc.

I’m just frankly not in a very festive mood.

But then I realized something…

Christmas is not about ME. There is a very specific reason for this season, and it SHOULD be a time of celebration and hope.

Plus, my kids are 8 and 9 years old, and deep down I know that we only have a few more years of that Santa Claus-believing, childhood wonder left.

So, I’m shaking off the Bah Humbug and pulling on my Feliz Navidad!

The first step? Cueing up my Christmas play list!

For me, Christmas just ain’t Christmas until I hear one of these songs!

Here are my Top Ten Picks For Must-Haves on your Christmas play list:

All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey

Seriously? There is no way to listen to this song without singing and dancing!

This Christmas by Donny Hathaway

A family favorite–this is the background music for many of our extended family gatherings.

Christmastime Is Here by Vince Guaraldi Trio

Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! A classic for sure!

Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms

Images of McCauley Culkin in the movie Home Alone appear in my head!

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Jackson 5

This one is a favorite car jam for me and the kids!

My Favorite Things by Tony Bennett

Ah! Tony’s velvety, buttery voice paired with this classic is an instant favorite!

It Must’ve Been Ol’ Santa Clause by Harry Connick, Jr.

My New Orleans roots make Harry’s rendition of this song an ideal pick!

Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee

Home Alone…again!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow by Dean Martin

As a southern girl, the idea of snow has always fascinated me.

White Christmas by The Drifters

More snow, but tis the season!

Ok. You’ve got to admit–that is one GREAT playlist!

What do you think? Did I miss any? What’s on YOUR Christmas play list?
