FREE DECORATING BUDGET SPREADSHEET

I’ve got a goodie for you today!

In every design project that we take on here at Arianne Bellizaire Interiors, one of the first questions we ask our clients is “What is the project budget?”

In fact, this question is even on our company inquiry form!

The funny thing is, prospective clients usually have one of two reactions:

Reaction #1: They get to that question on the form, don’t exactly know how to answer and call us to say, “Um, I’m not sure. What SHOULD my budget be?”

Reaction #2: The client confidently selects a budget range, but when we meet with them to discuss the project in detail and ask them how they arrived at that number they shrug and say, “That’s just how much I think this project should cost.”

It’s one thing to build your budget off of a gut feeling of how much a project should cost and an entirely other thing to base that estimate on real numbers!

In either case—no budget at all or an unrealistic budget—the designer and client have little chance at successfully achieving the desired effect.

Here’s the thing…

Without a clearly defined budget, you run the risk of some major “sticker shock” once you see the total cost of your project once your project is complete!

OR, worse, you could run out of money before you can get to the finish line!

A clearly defined budget will be essential to the success of your decorating project because it will be driven by the overall scope of the project and the quality of furnishings you choose.

Think of this budget as your project compass.

A few years ago, I developed a rudimentary budget estimator that we used in the office to help us get a quick, down-and-dirty dollar figure for our projects.

Later, it occurred to me that with just a few tweaks this tool could be something that I could share with my clients to help take the guesswork out of the budget process for them.

Today, I’m sharing an even more refined version of this tool with you in hopes that it will help you with your next decorating project!

THIS BUDGET PLANNING TOOL WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND:

  • Why establishing a realistic budget from the get-go is essential to the success of your design project
  • The two most important factors to consider before you start your budgeting process
  • How to evaluate which elements in the design are most important to you
  • How to estimate a budget total that gives you a realistic and comprehensive understanding of how much you’ll invest in materials and furnishings for your project

Rarely is anyone in a position to be able to afford EVERYTHING they’ve ever wanted in their dream home all at once.

However, I do believe that you can get a lot of what you want if you are strategic and purposeful about the process.

**Note: This tool is not all-encompassing, and it is not fool-proof! You may find that you need more items than those listed, need to change price ranges based on your regional location, etc. All that aside, I hope that this tool gets you one step closer to realizing your dream home!**

P.S. Please share, share, share this post. I’m sure your friends and family could use this tool, too. 😉
